Getting Here By Plane |
|
For those of you who chose to fly, getting to Toronto is pretty easy. Some things to consider:
There are two practical GA airports you can use to get to Toronto:
- Toronto City Centre (CYTZ)
- Toronto/Buttonville Municipal (CYKZ)
Both airports have IFR approaches, however we recommend trying to arrive at CYTZ for it's proximity to the downtown core. Public transportation from YKZ is not redily available.
Required Documents
For those of you entering from the United States, a few required documents are needed in order to fly in Canada:
- Canada Flight Suppliment (Canadian version of the US Airport Directory)
- Toronto VTA and VNC (Air 1900 and Air 5000)
- CAP 4 and Cap Gen (or equivilantly approved IFR approach plates)
Tips from the Rochester Flying Club on Americans flying to Canada are available at their website. Additionally, you may view this PDF on the differences between American and Canadian airspace rules.
Note: The airspace around Toronto is changing effective July 5th. New VNCs and VTAs will be issued in July as well. For more information, please see AIC 15/07.
